Vincent McMahon Obituary New York City: Devoted Fire Department Member Has Passed Away

Lieutenant Vincent McMahon Death: It is with deep sorrow and heartfelt respect that we honor the life and legacy of retired FDNY Lieutenant Vincent McMahon, a dedicated public servant, beloved family man, and true American hero. The Uniformed Firefighters Association regretfully announces his WTC-related passing, a solemn reminder of the lingering cost of the bravery shown on September 11th, 2001 and the days that followed. Lieutenant McMahon served with unwavering courage and integrity throughout his career, especially during one of our nation’s darkest hours.

Vincent McMahon was appointed to the New York City Fire Department on July 17, 1994. From his first day on the job, he was known for his work ethic, compassion, and a quiet strength that earned the respect of those who served alongside him. In the firehouse, he was more than a firefighter—he was a mentor, a friend, and a calming presence in the most chaotic of moments. His steady demeanor and sharp instincts made him a natural leader, and his promotion to Lieutenant on August 20, 2005, was a reflection of the dedication and skill he brought to the FDNY every single day.

He spent much of his distinguished career at Ladder 44, a company known for its excellence and tight-knit brotherhood. Vincent led by example, never asking of others what he wouldn’t do himself. His colleagues often spoke of his humility, the way he quietly made those around him better, and the deep pride he had in being a firefighter. He was the kind of person who showed up—on time, every time, ready to give his all for the people of this city.

Vincent’s legacy, however, extends far beyond the firehouse walls. He was among the countless brave souls who responded to the tragedy at the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. In the weeks and months that followed, he gave everything he had to the rescue and recovery efforts at Ground Zero. His selflessness and courage during that time are impossible to overstate. Like so many of his fellow first responders, he carried the physical and emotional toll of that mission long after the fires were extinguished. His WTC-related passing serves as yet another solemn chapter in the story of those who sacrificed so much in the service of others.

Though his professional accomplishments are many, Vincent McMahon will be remembered most for the man he was off-duty. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, a loyal friend, and a pillar in his community. Family was everything to him. Whether coaching little league, attending school plays, or just being present for the people he loved, Vincent made time for what mattered. His warmth, his sense of humor, and his deep moral compass defined him.

In retirement, Vincent continued to live with honor and humility. He stayed connected to the firefighting community, offering support and encouragement to younger members of the department. He also became an advocate for WTC health-related awareness, understanding all too well the importance of looking after those who had served on the pile. Even in the face of personal health challenges, he carried himself with dignity and grace, never losing the spirit that defined his life.

Lieutenant McMahon’s funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 128 Parrott Road, West Nyack, NY 10994. It will be a time for all who knew and loved him to gather, to remember, and to say goodbye to a man who gave so much to so many.

As we mourn the loss of this remarkable man, we also celebrate the life he lived—a life marked by courage, compassion, and an unshakeable sense of duty. Lieutenant Vincent McMahon is gone, but his legacy lives on in every life he touched, in every firefighter he inspired, and in the grateful city he helped protect.

We thank you, Lieutenant McMahon, for your service, your sacrifice, and your heart. You will never be forgotten.

Rest easy, brother. We’ve got it from here.
