CORTLAND, NEW YORK — With shattered hearts and unimaginable sorrow, we mourn the loss of a beloved soul, baby Lorenzo Joseph Aiello, who was called to heaven far too soon on April 11, 2025. Affectionately known as “Enzo,” this precious boy was the beloved son of Jessica and Nick Aiello, cherished baby brother to Bella, and a shining light to his extended family and all who came to know of him during his brief but deeply meaningful time on Earth.
There are moments in life that are simply impossible to make sense of—moments that shatter the natural order, that leave silence where joy was meant to grow. Losing a child is one of those moments, and the sudden passing of baby Lorenzo has left a void that words can never fully fill.
Enzo was born into a family overflowing with love. From the very beginning, he was embraced not only by his doting parents and big sister, but also by a large and close-knit circle of grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends—each of whom had been waiting with joy to watch him grow. In his few short months, Enzo brought light and warmth into every room he entered. His smile, his soft coos, and the gentle way he looked up at those who loved him conveyed a peace and sweetness that will never be forgotten.
Jessica and Nick, whose strength and devotion as parents are evident to all who know them, poured their hearts into loving and nurturing their beautiful boy. The love they gave Enzo in his brief life was immeasurable. Their bond as a family, already strong, became something transcendent as they surrounded him with care, music, cuddles, laughter, and endless affection. Enzo knew he was loved—every single day, in every moment.
His big sister Bella adored him. Even at her young age, she took on the role of protector and playmate, often checking in on her baby brother with the sweetness only a sibling can offer. Their connection, though cut short, is eternal. Enzo will forever be a part of her heart, a gentle guardian watching over her as she grows.
For Lorenzo’s grandparents—on both sides of the family, including his loving grandmother Maria Peragine Mancuso—the loss is beyond comprehension. Grandparents dream of seeing their grandbabies grow, of sharing their wisdom, of witnessing their milestones. This sudden goodbye has left not just broken hearts, but a legacy of love that will endure for generations.

Services to honor Lorenzo Joseph Aiello will be held on Wednesday from 2:00–4:00 PM and 7:00–9:00 PM at Maloney Funeral Home, located at 132 Ronkonkoma Avenue in Lake Ronkonkoma. Funeral services and burial will take place Thursday morning, with specific details and times to be announced.
There is no blueprint for how to mourn the loss of a child. But what we do know is that Lorenzo’s life, while brief, was profoundly meaningful. He changed the lives of everyone who held him, loved him, or even prayed for him. His presence was a gift. His memory will be a blessing.
